Salesforce to Acquire Listen Labs: A Guide for Research Teams

By

Status as of October 1, 2026: the agreement is signed, not closed. The useful comparison is between the workflow and commercial terms you can use today and the direction each platform is taking.

What did Salesforce announce about Listen Labs?

On September 29, 2026, Salesforce announced a definitive acquisition agreement. It expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2027, subject to customary conditions, including regulatory clearance. Salesforce describes customer research, AI agents, and behavior-grounded digital twins as complementary to Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, and its broader AI portfolio. Our interpretation is that Salesforce wants customer understanding closer to the systems where companies market, sell, and serve. For existing Salesforce customers, that puts Listen Labs inside an enterprise relationship they already have. The buyer question is how well that direction matches your team’s work.

What does this mean for existing Listen Labs customers?

An existing customer can continue judging Listen Labs by its study delivery, support, and agreed terms. A research team considering both products for the first time can make the same assessment without treating the announcement as a reason to leave or stay. The next research brief is the most useful starting point: who needs to be heard, what decision the evidence should inform, and when the findings are needed.

What should a Listen Labs customer get in writing before the deal closes?

Status as of October 1, 2026: signed, not closed. Your existing Listen Labs contract stays in force, and nothing in either announcement commits to terms after closing. A renewal or new purchase signed in this window should carry written answers to the questions the announcements leave open:

  1. Standalone availability. Will Listen Labs stay available as a standalone product, and for how long after closing, without a Salesforce subscription?
  2. Contract and price carry-over. Will your current rate, included credits and services hold through the term and at the next renewal? What happens to unused credits if the plan structure changes?
  3. Data location and processing. Where will interview recordings, transcripts and participant data live after closing, which entity processes them, and does optional EU hosting continue?
  4. Salesforce relationship. Will any feature, integration or support tier require a Salesforce account or a Salesforce contract?
  5. Security attestations. Will the SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, 27701 and 42001 statements carry over unchanged, and when will the next reports be issued under the new owner?
  6. Integrations and API. Will the public API, the MCP connector and the Qualtrics, Rally and Decipher integrations stay supported on their current terms?
  7. Exit rights. Confirm you can keep exporting transcripts, the responses table and full videos from the Recruit tab, and that a change of control gives you a termination or renegotiation right.

For an in-house insights lead, exit rights matter most: the research archive is the asset that outlives any vendor. Listen Labs’ public API also returns responses and transcripts, so an archive export can be scripted as well as downloaded from the Recruit tab. For an agency, the Salesforce-relationship question decides whether the tool can still serve clients on other CRMs.

Will pricing change, or will buyers need Salesforce?

The announcements introduce neither a new Listen Labs price list nor a requirement to purchase Salesforce. Listen Labs publishes no prices; it describes a subscription with credits spent per participant, with organizations over 100 employees buying through a demo and pilot. Our Listen Labs pricing guide separates that model from a historical buyer-reported quote and shows comparable study costs.

The immediate choice is therefore about the offer available to your team. An agency serving several clients needs to buy research independently of each client’s CRM. A team funding individual projects gets more from published usage prices and no ongoing commitment between studies. A recurring research program already standardized on Salesforce gains from the broader enterprise relationship.

When does an independent research platform make sense?

Listen Labs is a strong fit when in-house researchers and white-glove service are part of what you want to buy, or when you need managed recruitment for niche audiences such as specialist healthcare or the C-suite. An independent platform makes sense when your team owns the methodology and wants to price each study itself.

How does User Intuition differ from Listen Labs?

Three differences hold regardless of how the deal closes. User Intuition publishes $30 per quality voice interview and needs no subscription, while Listen Labs quotes a subscription with participant credits. User Intuition’s interviews ladder 5–7 levels by default, while Listen Labs’ researcher sets follow-ups per question, from none up to 2–3. And User Intuition stays independent of any CRM or marketing suite. Both platforms charge only for interviews that pass their quality checks, so that is not a reason to choose either.

Why do research teams and agencies choose User Intuition?

They get senior-researcher depth at survey scale, on a methodology they wrote, with evidence that stands up when a stakeholder pushes back.

User Intuition fits research teams and agencies that want to start a study directly, control project costs, and turn customer evidence into a decision. Your researchers set the objectives and guide, pin required questions in their exact wording, and set quotas or parallel monadic cells; User Intuition runs adaptive conversations, checks interview quality, and produces findings linked to the underlying evidence. Each client or team works in an isolated workspace, white-label delivery is available, and customer data never trains AI models.

Four benefits matter most for the next project:

  • Start without a sales process. User Intuition’s self-serve setup takes about five minutes. A panel study returns 200+ interviews within 24 hours, and an own-list study interviews people in parallel as each one responds.
  • Pay for usable interviews. Automatic Length, Depth, and Coverage checks determine whether an interview is billable. Interviews that fail those checks are not charged, reducing the cost of unusable responses and the work of requesting refunds.
  • Get explanations that inform action. User Intuition’s adaptive laddering explores what happened, why it mattered, and the needs behind the answer. That depth helps researchers connect feedback to product priorities or positioning.
  • Own the question without an agency. An in-house team can run the same guide wave after wave, with every study landing in a searchable Hub, so the next question starts from what earlier studies already answered.

The in-depth interview workflow explains how conversations develop. For client delivery, User Intuition for agencies shows how teams retain their methodology, sample choices, and interpretation.

What does a first study cost?

User Intuition offers pay-as-you-go pricing with no required subscription. A five-interview voice study provides a clear entry budget:

Sample sourceTotal for five quality voice interviews
Your own participants$150
Standard panel recruitment$300

The platform fee is $30 per quality voice interview; standard panel recruitment adds $30 per participant. Incentives you arrange for your own participants are separate, and specialist audiences require a recruiting quote. Your research purpose determines the final sample size.

Can I run research from my existing AI tools?

User Intuition’s MCP and API let teams plan and run research from an AI-assisted workflow, then retrieve findings and their supporting evidence. A researcher can turn an unresolved question into a study brief, check costs, launch within approved spend, and bring source-linked findings back into the same conversation. Listen Labs also offers MCP access for external tools, including Claude and ChatGPT.

What happens to human simulation and digital twins?

Salesforce’s announcement singles out Listen Labs’ human simulation, behavior-grounded digital twins, as part of what it is buying, alongside customer research and AI agents. Our reading is that this capability will move closer to Salesforce’s marketing and service products over time; ask how simulated respondents will be labelled and separated from real interview data in your workspace. User Intuition also offers synthetic participants calibrated against real, opted-in respondents, as a planning aid ahead of fieldwork; the comparison page covers both platforms’ evidence review and follow-up planning.

Can you start with one project before moving historical research?

Yes. Your next User Intuition study can start independently of a decision about historical research. Choose one live question, bring your discussion guide or build it in the platform, and invite your participants or recruit from the panel. Review the findings and evidence before deciding how to extend the work.

For an agency, that means adding quality interviews to a current client brief while keeping its methodology, sample choice and interpretation. For an in-house team, it means investigating one unresolved churn or positioning question. The Listen Labs migration guide separates this immediate start from moving older studies.

Start a User Intuition study with the research decision you need to make, then use the findings and evidence review to plan the next step.

Note from the User Intuition Team

User Intuition provides AI-moderated qualitative research for agencies, consulting firms, and research teams. Keep your methodology and discussion guide, bring your own sample or use our 4M participant panel, and review recordings, transcripts, and evidence-linked findings. Your researchers connect the evidence to the client decision and prepare the final recommendations.

Inspect complete sample calls and a readout, then test your own brief. Starter voice interviews cost $30 with your sample or $60 with standard panel recruitment, with no monthly fee. Specialty audiences are quoted separately; incentives you arrange for your own sample are additional. See pricing or try 3 free voice interviews with your own participants.
